My quick takes:
- 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Genre: Historical Romance
- Language 🤐 none
- Spice ❤️🔥 none
- Content 🤔 grief, toxic family relations
The quick witted, humorous Emma is a delight. The depth she plumbs in grief is introspective and familiar. I thoroughly enjoyed the thickening plot, friendships, and adventures this novel afforded.
The final entry in this book was just so good 🥹 love the found family that’s forming for one Miss Emma M. Lion 🫶🏼
Some of my favorite moments:
✨ Jane Eyre rescue
✨ Julius Caesar
✨ The Cleopatra
✨ The breakfast room
✨ The Duke of’s oil portrait
✨ Candid front porch pic
✨ The Reprobates Ten
✨ A of E
✨ The fountain
Edit: I just reread this book and absolutely loved it even more. The details you pick up on with a reread are so fun and make the books come even more alive. Here are a couple of my favorite quotes from Volume 3:
I leaned against the door frame, watching his enjoyment. I had forgotten what it is like to live with an artist. The unexpected pauses over what might be considered mundane to most. It is a bittersweet reminder. My father would do that to my mother and myself all the time. Something would strike him, and he couldn’t let it be until he had captured it in a sketchbook.
And I hadn’t realized it until that moment how much I’ve missed that feeling, of someone inside your four walls watching out for you. The feeling that home isn’t just a place, but also people. I’ve forgotten it could be.
