I really loved how uniquely this was written.

A book written via emails, text messages, transcribed interviews and everything in between? I’m so here for it. I wasn’t particularly interested in Janice Hallett’s books until someone told me she writes them akin to epistolary format, which always intrigues me.

The murder mystery that the plot centers around is a wild ride. I personally am intrigued by cult related stories so this one sucked me in quickly.

The biggest letdown for me was actually what originally drew me to it, the writing style. Which I loved, but had a pitfall. I never felt truly connected to the main character, or any character for that matter. Since you’re working through the plot via secondary forms of communication and not the actual thoughts inside the characters heads, it made me feel very disconnected and removed from it all.

I read this on my kindle, someone suggested I not read it via audiobook because the repetition of the narrator reading out all the email heading and text message info was a bit much. While some of the themes in this book might not be for everyone, I enjoyed the murder mystery and how it all was unveiled in the end.
