The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie (Hercule Poirot #1)

My Quick Takes:
- 4/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Language 🤐 infrequent mild
- Spice ❤️‍🔥 none
- Content 🤔 death, extramarital affair

Decided to finally read the Hercule Poirot series in order starting with book 1! As always, I had one bit figured out but this murder mystery ended up having so many different moving parts and nuanced details that I missed.

Having read a few one off Hercule Poirot novels in the past, I really loved getting to “meet” the little detective again for the “first time” it’s easy to see how the banter between him and Hastings just gets more and more dry and sarcastic as the series progresses. I really enjoyed how confidently unaware Hastings was throughout the plot, a trend that continues throughout the series.

I listened to the audio on audible and love that this is included with an Audible subscription. I didn’t have to use my monthly credit on it 👏🏼 Richard Armitage did a great job narrating and using different character voices. I loved his little personal detail at the beginning of why he wanted to narrate Agatha Christie books.
