The Adventures of Bo and Mr. Quillery takes readers on a Wild West ride of good v. evil. An endearing sheriff team, rowdy outlaws, and larger than life legends weave a virtue teaching tall-tale that will leave young readers wanting more.
I downloaded the audiobook (get it for free by signing up for the author’s email list) to a Make Your Own Yoto card and my girls have loved listening to this adventure. It’s become a frequent card that my girls reach for during quiet time and this book is their current bed time read aloud (seriously, they love it). We can’t wait to keep adding this series to our home library!
Along with the audio, our girls love flipping through the beautiful illustrations. I personally think illustrations make or break children’s book and the illustrator is knocking this series out of the park by bringing the characters and landscapes to life. Illustrations on almost every page keep younger readers engaged and make this book a great read aloud.

While the recommended age range is 1st-4th grade, I think children of all ages can enjoy this book. It makes a great read aloud for littles (mine are ages 5 and 3) and could work into the early middle grade years as well.
Parents will also be in for a treat, especially if they grew up reading and loving Hank the Cowdog! The Adventures of Bo and Mr. Quillery is a great nod to the nostalgic children’s western series with added virtues woven subtly throughout the narrative.
This is the author’s DEBUT novel and I can’t wait to see where the adventures to come take us!
