The Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne (The Bloodsworn #2)

My Quick Takes:
- 4/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Genre 📚 epic fantasy
- Language 🤐 moderate
- Spice ❤️‍🔥 closed door
- Content 🤔 kidnapping, child brutality, graphic on page death and violence, themes of war, sexual innuendo, same sex attraction, slavery

WUTTTTT was that ending?!?!?!

This is why I like reading completed series, I can’t imagine having to wait for the next book to be released with that ending because woof.

My rating reflects some of the themes that are very prevalent in this book that aren’t my fave. Lots of sexual innuendo that began to take me out of the plot, I think that may just be the fact that it’s a Viking book? Not sure, The Faithful and the Fallen series had none of that so it wasn’t expecting it in this series but it’s a main theme in this second book. Also, as a mama it’s hard to read about children being taken 💔 was more prevalent in this book than the first.

In true John Gwynne fashion, it’s both a character driven and action filled plot that’s high stakes and fast paced. Can’t wait to dive into the final book!
