As my littles grow and are stepping through the door of reading books on their own, I want to make sure I have resources on hand to help me thoughtfully guide them through literature with a gospel lens.
Stories Woven in Silver by Kathryn Butler and Korrie Johnson discusses this and so much more. Butler and Johnson have crafted a resource for parents who are looking for guidance of their own on topics like scripture, read alouds, magic, mythology, and more.
This book does the most heavy lifting in its breakdown of books. There are 6 different middle grade Christian fantasy series that are summarized for parents and include lists of gospel themes and truth found throughout the book, as well as discernment concerns for the most sensitive of readers. Alongside these deep dives are overviews of 24 other titles including Christian fantasy and classical literature.

Arguably the most helpful (as I found everything in this book helpful) is the list of resources found in the back of the book that include options for family worship, book review websites, and recommended book lists for ages 3-14!
This book is an amazing resource for parents, grandparents, educators, or anyone who is looking to promote gospel centered literacy in children. It’s one I’ll be picking up again and again throughout the years.
