This was a super fun reading experience that was fast paced with short chapters and a single point of view. I read most of it in one sitting and am so excited this is going to be a series 👏🏼
It felt like a very approachable scifi! I’ve heard some reviews say they had issues with the world building (or lack thereof), I did not. After reading Mistborn, it didn’t feel too far off the mark from the minimal world building clues you get from The Final Empire. Plus, the plot hooked me immediately, and I’ve staked my tent firmly in the camp that a good plot can cover a multitude of sins.
So glad I preordered the physical copy, excited to add another James Islington to my shelves. This title is released on September 1, 2026.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy to read and review.
