What a journey! Not only the plot but also my personal reading experience with this book. This series is a top read for me this year 👏🏼
After the second book, Valor, I was thrown into a mini reading slump as I waited to get into Ruin (reading for a book club so trying to pace myself). Once I finally started Ruin I got a bit confused by some of the characters and muddying up a few of the storylines. Very thankful to be reading this with a book club and friends because I was able to talk through the story lines and iron it all out to keep trudging through this chonky book.
All that being said. Wow. This book made me the most emotional yet out of the series. I’ve gotten attached to so many characters. I love the humor throughout. The characters’ inner thoughts and dialogues are quick witted and a comedic relief to the reader. The character development and plot pacing are phenomenal, the biblical allegory and right v. Wrong are heightening and becoming more clear as the series progresses.
The last 20% of the book is packed with all the things and I really don’t know how there is STILL another book in this series. Can’t wait to read the final book and see everything come together. I’ve listened to all the books on audio so far with the physical books on hand to highlight and reread passages. The narrator does a great job and I highly recommend the audio if epic fantasy audiobooks are your thing.
