Howling Dark by Christopher Ruocchio (Sun Eater #2)

My Quick Takes:
- 3.75/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
- Genre 📚 scifi
- Language 🤐 strong*
- Spice ❤️‍🔥 explicit fade to black, end of ch. 10
- Content 🤔 on page killing/violence, themes of prostitution, innuendo, same sex relationships, gender fluidity

I’m so bought into the plot. The endinggggggg oh my word. My mind was blown. I consumed this book in a matter of days and am completely captured by the plot at this point.

The first book was ROUGH. Was not expecting and level of language and content it has. Since I WAS expecting it in this second book, and *it was much less than book one, I was pleasantly surprised. The bar was set very low after book one 😅 and the plot and writing style are why I even rated this book as high as I did.

I think the content might be where the scifi genre loses me. I understand that with thousands of years of technological “advancement” and space and culture and different beings it can get to the place that it is in the genre and these books, but I just don’t love it.

However, the seeds of truth have been planted in this book. Again, THE ENDING!!! I know I say that with a lot of books but like wow. My mind. It had to bend a few times to get the ending in order. I’m so excited to continue on in this series, especially to see the seeds that were planted start to grow.

Not a book I would recommend to many. I listened to the audio and I’m beginning to love the narrator’s voice more and more.
