What a drama 🎭 I don’t think I’ve ever read a book that I both thoroughly enjoyed reading and also disliked the characters so much 😅

Every character was so dramatic, I felt like I was reading a Russian aristocratic soap opera. The emotions were so hot and cold, both with equal depth of feeling. At the beginning this book felt very “take the log out of your own eye” and in the end there was stark comparison between living for self v living for God that is still so relevant in today’s culture. I wish the plot had been wrapped up with a bow, but I can also appreciate when authors leave the ending in a “…” for you to decide how you think the characters will continue on in life.
I loved Tolstoy’s writing style, it flows beautifully. I listened to the audiobook on audible, it’s narrated by Maggie Gyllenhaal and included with your Audible subscription.
