I was raised a reader and have loved books my entire life. While books are the bulk of what you can expect here, I’m a lifelong learner who loves creating and collecting hobbies. As a millennial, homeschooling mom of three I have many facets that make up my life and love sharing pieces of them with you here alongside all the books.
Why did you start Paris Mae Reads?
In true “if you give a mom a kindle…” fashion, Paris Mae Reads started in the wee hours of the morning. My husband, Mr. Reads, bought me a Kindle (even though I claimed to never want one) and it was a game changer for my reading.
Reading in a dark nursery while feeding my newborn felt like a super power.
As the amount of books I read continued to climb, I wanted a dedicated space to keep up with all my books and book reviews. This desire seamlessly melded with my background of art and design. I love having an outlet for my love of books and creativity.
As my seasons of motherhood continue to shift and change, I’ve progressed from reading only physical books, to all kindle books, and now I mainly read via audiobooks. Someday I’ll have time to sit and read again, right?! These days you can find me multitasking around the house with an audiobook in my ears.
In the world, not of the world
Everyone has a worldview. A set of beliefs and framework by which they see and experience the environment around them. As a bible-believing Christian, I filter everything through a Biblical lens. I love finding nuance in books and engaging with literature in a way that brings me back around to my beliefs, ultimately pointing to the truth found in Christ.
As I read a vast variety of written works, I hold fast to God’s truth through His Word. Staying grounded in Biblical truth and keeping a vertical perspective allows me to seek the morsels of truth in all texts and point it back to the truth of the gospel and God’s character.
While some books I read purely for the sake of entertainment, my favorites are those I can engage with thoughtfully. I value discernment over fear mongering and my reviews are the perfect resource for helping readers like you navigate fiction reads and make informed decisions when picking up a book!
